I have configured a few dozen 6224 stacks for customers using EqualLogic SAN units and have enjoyed much success. I recently purchased a used 6224 for home use and I'm seeing very strange problems.
After configuring my 6224 similarly to how I do for customers (ESX hosts ports are trunked and tagged for the iSCSI VLAN, SAN ports are set to Access and untagged access to the iSCSI VLAN, iSCSI optimization is enabled, STP is disabled on all iSCSI endpoint ports, Flow Control is enabled, etc). I cannot get jumbo packets to traverse the switch. From two Dell R710 servers with ESXi 6.0U1a, I can vmkping each other on the iSCSI VLAN just fine, but if I increase the MTU to 9000, I either get dropped packets or no packets received. The same is true for two StarWind SAN units. Keep in mind that this whole setup worked fine with another switch prior to introducing the 6224.
I need some insight into what I might be doing wrong or if the switch might be bad. It came with firmware 3.2.1.3 and I've tried using that and updating to 3.3.13.1 with the same results.
Thanks in advance.
