I have a customer that has two Dell Power Connect 6224 switches. I am trying to get even basic monitoring set up on these switches using PRTG. My issue is two fold. Currently they devices are functioning but cannot ping the switches from any device on their network. When logged into the switches console I can ping the second switch but nothing else on the network.
The second issue which I thought would get around the ping issue was I tried SNMP and it fails to communicate with the switches even RO. I am not as versed in Dell Switches as other major brands, so what is the solution here?
The customer would be happy with just a ping response to be alerted if the switches go into a down state. What configuration changes will allow ping from other devices on these switches?
