Good evening,
I am having a hard time understanding the benefits of Stacking or using a LAG to connect two iSCSI switches together for an equalogic SAN.
Currently we have an MD3200i which we are replacing with an equalogic 4100. I have two 5424 switches.
I have one port on each controller going to each switch.
I then have two ports on each host, one goes to one switch, one goes to the other.
I then use MPIO in vmware to handle spreading the loads. The switches are not linked in any way. Totally separate.
This works great. I lose a controller, the show goes on. I lose a host the show goes on, I lose a switch the show goes on.. etc etc etc.....
So my question is what am I gaining by linking the switches? Especially when only once controller is active at a time it seems like I would gain nothing.
