Hi
First I'm not a master of networks...
Data:
- I have a PowerConnect 6224
- I have 7 NAS's connected to switch - 1GB
- I have a server with 4 Ethernet x 1GB connected in 4 ports of switch with link aggregation
--- ALL WORK FINE --- that means I use that 4G to ingest data in 7 NAS. Usually I need to ingest 300-500-1000GB on every NAS over night (very rare will be used in day time)
Problem:
When data packets will "arrive" in switch will be send to all switch ports. This mean the port 1 from switch (connected to NAS1) will get dataNAS1, dataNAS2, ...dataNAS7 (but will drop dataNAS2 to 7). How much this extra package will affect my data transfer / switch performance? If will affect...how I can maximize the data transfer ?
Someone suggest me something like this: 7 VLAN, every VLAN will contain the NAS port and LAG ports. LAG ports will be commune to all VLAN's. But I don't know how to do this and if will increase my switch performance...
I hope I make a good explanation of my problem.
Best Regard,
Daniel
