OpenManage Network Manager : Doesn't Initialize - Fresh Install on Windows

$

Looks like there is an issues with 6.2 SP3 of OMNM Windows installation. From what I can tell the script to reset the MySql password has failed which is not allowing for anything to initialize.

db_setup logs shows : com.dorado.installer.actions.OWLoadDatabaseWizardAction, [E:\OMNM\oware.cmd, installmysql, -q], stdout: Password reset failed.  Exiting.

Does anyone have any recommendations on rerunning the script, maybe with a hard coded parameter or something.

x1052 wont route to router

I installed a Dell switch and can access the internet and everything seems fine but I cannot access anything on the routers network. My routers main network is 192.168.1.x and the router is at 192.168.1.1 I have this coming into a Dell x1052 on port 47 which is configured as an access port on vlan 1. What am I doing wrong? Here is the x1052 config below.

okay so update since the last post, I enabled management of the router from 255.255.255.255 and I can now access 192.168.1.1 the router IP from the 10.0.0.0 network although I still cannot see any other devices on the 192.168.1.1 network.

Reconnect port-channel to VLT

I'm having an issue very similar to this issue listed here

I have a dozen working port channels with the exact same configuration as the one I've recreated, but my new LACP / port-channels do not see one another on their partner switches via VLT. Both switches are configured identically, I can send full configs if it would be helpful, but I'm really struggling to see why this happens when we are recreating the LACP after replacing/upgrading/rebuilding hosts.

WORKING port channel:

Am I missing something for the vlt config? how do I get these two switches to see their partner?

Here's the LACP status for the port channel that I've recreated.

Dell Mobile Computing Cart PS2 Managed w/PowerConnect 3548 switch

We currently have purchased several Dell Mobile managed carts that come with a PowerConnect 3548 switch.   The premise behind it is to allow us to remotely manage multiple client devices that are in the cart.  My question is how is the switch connecting to the network since it is in a Mobile device and not in a secure switch closet?  Can it be in unmanaged mode so that we can connect it to any jack in our building and do updates, or does it have to be configured and connected to a trunk port on a specific jack/port on an existing switch that is also in trunk mode which would mean I would have collect 30+ mobile carts and bring them all to a central location that is configured to support this?

If so, it to me defeats the purpose of having it.  If I have to go around and collect these carts.  the switch closets are not large enough to accommodate a cart and I can not have office or classroom jacks configured in trunk mode.  Has anyone used these carts and how do they have them configured.

GVRP between 2 Powerconnect Switches

I'm trying to set up GVRP between a Dell Powerconnect 3524P and a Dell Powerconnect 3548P.  My eventual goal is to do most of the VLAN configurations on the 3524P and have them propagate all throughout the network, with the 3548P as my test subject.

However, I cannot get GVRP to propagate any VLANs at all.

What I'd expect: Statically configure VLANs on one switch, and add them as tagged to the switch interconnect port, and see them show up on the other switch as dynamicGvrp VLANs.

My setup:

_3524P_

* RSTP enabled on device and on all ports

* GVRP enabled on device

* GVRP enabled on Port g3

Port(s)  GVRP-Status Registration Dynamic VLAN  Timers(milliseconds)

-------- ----------- ------------ ------------  ----      -----      ---------
g3       Enabled     Normal       Enabled       200       600        10000

* Port G3 in Trunk mode, native VLAN 1, with added VLANs of 3,11-13

* VLANs 3,11-13 all added statically on this device

_3548P_

* RSTP enabled on device and all ports

* GVRP enabled on device

* GVRP enabled on port g4

Port(s)  GVRP-Status Registration Dynamic VLAN  Timers(milliseconds)
                                    Creation    Join      Leave      Leave All

* No additional VLANs configured on the switch

7048P Inter-Vlan routing

Hi I have three PowerConnect 7048p layer 3 switches that I recently set up VLANs on. The VLANS are 1,30,40,50,60,70, and 80 respectively. The three switches are connected over fiber and the ports connecting them are trunked. Devices on their respective VLANS are verified to able to communicate with each other. I want to enable communications from VLAN 1 to VLANs 40 and 50.

I have entered "ip routing" in the (config)# command line to enable global routing and routing is enabled for each VLAN. The GUI menu description in the user manual shows a subcategory called "VLAN ROUTING" under the Routing menu. The GUI on my switches does not show this subcategory at all. It should be right between the Routing subcategories "Router" and "VVRP" I am running the latest 5.1.11.1 firmware image. How can I make these VLANs communicate with each other?

Here is the config for one of my switches:

I can't remove VLAN settings on a particular port

$

I'm trying to change port settings via the CLI on a 5548P. I have this:

!

interface gigabitethernet1/0/47

channel-group 1 mode on
no switchport
switchport general allowed vlan add 200 tagged
switchport general allowed vlan add 2 untagged
!

There were other settings in there but I got rid of them by running "no" and then the necessary commands. I can't seem to get rid of the LAST TWO lines there (the "switchport general allowed vlan add # tagged/untagged")

I've tried "no switchport general allowed vlan" and "no switchport" and a few other things, but nothing gets rid of those two lines. My only option now is to just remove the VLANs and then start over by re-adding them.

So what commands do I use?

Is there any way to disable(shutdown) VLAN interface on Dell N series switch?

$

Hi All,

We are using Dell N series switch in our environment(N3024, N3048 etc,.)

In my past experience(cisco world),  when I enter interface vlan id mode, I can use shutdown command to disable this vlan interface no matter what the reason is. Of course, I also can use no shutdown command to make it back operation.

My question is, is there any similar command or workaround to achieve this purpose on N series switch? I cannot find any command with no beginning when I was at vlan interface id mode

Is there any way to disable(shutdown) a vlan interface on N series switch?

Hi All,

In my past experience, I could use shutdown / no shutdown command to make vlan interface down / up under vlan interface id mode.

Is there any similar command or workaround to achieve this purpose? I cannot find any commands with no beginning.

Thank you!

Po1 is transitioned from the Forwarding state to the Blocking state in instance 0

I got many Po1 with the same equipement connect in the same switch, with the same configuration. Why it happen just on this Po ?! Other equipement is a Mikrotik CCR1072.

Switches (Force10 S3124) won't talk to PCs

I have a network that includes 2 switches connected to each other. One goes to the firewall and the other is connected to the 2 PCs.

The switches can ping each other back and forth but the workstations are unable to reach the switches or each other.

The switches are both configured with 192.x.x.x address on interface VLAN 2 and are communicating via a trunk port.

On the switch that is connected to the PCs I configured them into interface VLAN 2 as tagged ports

Then I assigned the workstations address within the above subnet and used the switch's  interface VLAN 2 address as their default gateway.

Any ideas on why the PCs can't communicate with each other or the switch?

Ports acting weird on a 5548P switch

I cleaned up a network closet that had a Dell PowerConnect 5548 and a 5524P and replaced both with a single PowerConnect 5548P. There are only about 25 active network devices that run back to this closet right now and I just wanted PoE across the board because it makes things easier when moving desks and phones around, which is often.

I updated the firmware and boot code on the 5548P and then installed the switch. The next day, everything is working fine but one of the connected printers seems to keep going offline. It went offline once in the morning, so I troubleshot it by clearing the hung-up documents in the print queue on the print server and rebooted the printer. Finally it's back to working. Then a few hours later, same thing. I get it fixed again. Then at the end of the day, the printer is just completely offline with no errors. Won't respond to ping and it's simply dead to the network.

I called our printer support team for help with the printer and then they ask if it's plugged into a PoE switch and I said yes, I just installed one in the closet the night before. They suggest I put a non-PoE switch in between the connection to test if PoE is causing the problem, because apparently it's a known issue on some older printers (?). However, this printer is brand new as of this year.

So I grab an unmanaged 8-port Cisco SF110D-08 and plugged the printer into that as well as the network cable that runs back to the 5548P. I notice that the Cisco switch port that goes to the printer lights up, but not on the port that runs to the PowerConnect 5548P in the closet. So I run around testing cables and ports and everything trying to figure out why it won't work.

At one point, I connected the 8-port Cisco switch directly to the 5548P (thus bypassing the drop cable in the ceiling), but still neither of the ports lit up. Then I took this Cisco switch to a PowerConnect 5524P switch in different closet and both ports light up like normal. Really strange.

I am leaning towards this is an issue or port setting on the 5548P in the original closet that runs to the printer that keeps going offline. The strange thing is that after I troubleshoot everything and am done plugging and unplugging wires, and I plug the printer back in directly to the 5548P, the printer seems to work again like nothing is wrong.

#1. Is there some setting in the 5548P that doesn't like ports to be directly connected to other switches or other non-PoE switches? (Again, the Cisco switch worked while plugged into a different PowerConnect 5524P but not the 5548P I wanted it to work on)

#2. Why would a port on my 5548P switch work with a printer for a while, but then suddenly decide to stop working?

#3. Is this likely an issue with the printer or the 5548P switch?

Note: I ended up plugging in an 8-port, non-PoE TP-Link switch between the printer and the 5548P and the Ethernet link is up and seems stable for now. Time will tell if it dies again.

We are using a stack of three N3048p switches.  Out VOIP server is plugged into the stack and all VOIP handset traffic flows through these switches to get to the server.

After a software upgrade on our SwitchVox VOIP phone software, our VOIP handsets are having TCP connection issues with our VOIP server.  The TCP connections are timing out so the handsets cannot obtain the latest configuration. They can successfully obtain an IP via DHCP and can obtain basic configuaration through UPD communications.

Port Fast and PVST are not enabled on the switches.

I even rebooted the switches in case there was as broadcast storm or traffic hung.

I am not an expert here so I am looking for someone that may have had a similar issue or places to look in our N3048 configuration.

Thanks

Hi there !

We have some Dell PowerConnect 5324 switches at our colocations.  As part of an inventory and technology planning for our company, I would like to know the End of Life and End of Support dates for this switch.  I can not find this information at the official Cisco docs and support pages.

I really appreciate your time!

Have a good day !

I have a Dell PowerConnect 2824 24-port 10/100/1000 Gigabit Switch Switch for my household.  At seemingly random times, the network freezes and I get no internet access.  If I bypass the switch, I can get wireless internet from the cable modem.  It comes back after a while but also returns after I reset the switch.

Any suggestions?  Time to buy a new switch?  Which one?

I am running software version 1.0.0.45 and boot version 1.0.0.13 and Hardware version 00.00.02

Thanks.
