Hello.

I have a 6248 Power connect Switch. I configured the ports 1 and 2 as LAG1 and the ports 3 and for as LAG2. All the ports have the LACP enabled (as you can see in the image)

I have 2 servers (Dell R420) with Windows 2012 Standard Edition. In both servers, I created a NIC Teaming using 2 NICs (Teaming mode is LACP and Load Balance mode is Address Hash) 

Now on each server I have one Virtual NIC with 2 GBps.

I connect the first server on the switch ports 1 and 2, and the second server on ports 3 and 4.

After configure the Ip settings on both server, the question is:  can I copy one file from the first server to the second server at 2gbps speed?

I did a lot of tests, but always appear to use only 1  gbps.

Hi,

It seems 8024-switch (version 5.1.0.3) doesn't support command 'speed 1000' whereby this is working fine on other Powerconnect 5524. Is anyone else encounter the same by any chance?

Hi, We have a stack of 2x 7048s which are (is?) configured as the default gateway for a number of VLANs coming from some Dell blade chassis. I wont go into too much detail as it's more of a conceptual thing i need to know

8x VLANS, all of which are x.x.x.254, 255.255.255.0. Great. All the internal stuff works a treat.

I now want to take port 48 and plug a juniper firewall into it and have all the internal stuff be able to acces the internet. safely.

I can set up the Juniper and access the internet separately and it all works fine too. How do i join the two together? How do i configure port 48 to be the gateway for the internet for all the VLANS ?

from the outside inwards the external internet connection (internally) is 192.168.1.254. It DHCPs my Juniper with 192.168.1.92 (UnTrust delivered by DHCP from the external router). Juniper Trust IP is negotiable but currently i have it set as 192.168.2.1 (static) and was going to have the port set as 192.168.2.254

So its the conceptual bit of getting all the .254 VLANs to see port 48 as the exit to the internet i'm lokoing for. Then i need to set up DNS etc internally and on the Juniper which is the next challenge.

Hi,

after read the doc (ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/Common/powerconnect-5524_User%27s%20Guide_en-us.pdf) It´s not clear to me:

- the only way to backup the current settings (VLAN, IP, users+pwds) is running a TFTP on my computer??

- the only way to update firmware is using a TFTP on my computer?

looking the table below and since we receive the ISP router on "g1/0/24" port, Can I assume that only the ports 20~24 can comunicate with each other but not with ports between 1~19?

Hi all. I've done some searches on google and here. Wasn't able to find what I'm looking for.

I have a setup of 4 PC6248 switches. 2 on floor 3 and 2 on floor 4 and stacked respectively. The switches on the 4th floor are connected to the 3rd floor switches via a fiber connection (SFP module). Is there a command that will show me the current status of the fiber link? I'm mainly looking for the current link speed between the 3rd floor swtiches to the 4th floor switches.

I've got a Powerconnect 5524P that I'm playing with and trying to get to work with Cisco phones.

From what I've found, the Dell switches do not speak CDP, so they cannot use it to identify the Cisco phones and put them on the right VLAN.   I found that I could set up the OUI table to make it identify the phones, and I used it to get one phone working.

The problem is that I checked all the phones at this client and they have over 30 different OUIs on the phones.   The Dell switch would only let me enter 15 in the table.   How do I get around this?   Surely there is a better way to identify the phones then checking their MAC addresses!

I'm very new to these switches. Just bought a pair of PowerConnect 8132 switches on Firmware 5.1.0.1, and I'm trying to disable some ports on them through the web UI. There's a setting called "Admin Status," which I can set to Disable, but after I save the change and refresh, it goes right back to Enable. I can't see anything else that looks like it would disable a port. Help!

Hello!

I have question regarding Protected Ports on Dell Powerconnect 6248.

What I want to achieve - two devices one connected to port39 and other to 40 can not talk to each other. I assumed that this can be done straight forward with "Protected Ports" feature.

So I created:
switchport protected 0 name "A"
switchport protected 1 name "B"

interface ethernet 1/g39
switchport access vlan 3
switchport protected 0
exit
!
interface ethernet 1/g40
switchport access vlan 3
switchport protected 1
exit

Some testing - connected one device with IP 192.168.7.10 (random IP from local IP address range) to port39 and another device with IP 192.168.7.11 to port40. When I perform PINGs these devices can ping each other.
What is wrong with my configuration or "Protected Ports" works in different way?
And why there is groups (in example I created A and B) - in manual I cant find any explanation on them.

I have a 2716 switch that has a strange issue.

I can get the switch to the managed mode and log into it but if I go into the VLan settings or download it resets back to the login screen.

Is there a way to boot to TFTP  image or something to put a clean system on the device.??

Hi there

I buy recently a used Dell powerconnect 3348 in a ebay auction and i need to export to mozambique. No issues with destination but the usa sender says that my 3348 have a ear99 classification of A5002.

I dont know what this mean and if is correct

Please someone help me

Hello,

I'm running a pair of 5548's stacked.    I'm seeing the switches crash occasionally with this error message:

27-Jul-2013 12:42:03 :%OS-F-MEMORY: OSMEMG_rn_free: Memory magic is invalid

I'm running the latest software:

I have a 5524 linked to a 5548 in my server cabinet, and increasingly I'm seeing a drop in internet connection from the user's perspective...

 

The 5524 runs from Port 1 to port 47 of the 5548

 

The 5548 runs from port 48 to firewall

 

Firewall runs direct to Comcast Router...

 

I've got a PC monitoring PING's:

 

01) From the 5524 to Google's DNS @ 8.8.8.8

02) From the 5548 to Google's DNS @ 8.8.8.8

03) Outside the Firewall to Google's DNS @ 8.8.8.8

 

The ISP (Comcast) reports, no loss

I have NO issue outside the Firewall

I have NO report of a drop ON the Firewall

 

And TWICE today I've lost Internet connectivity and the RAM log on the 5548 says"

I could understand if the secondary switch (the 5524) going down or losing internet connectivity if it's port 1 to the 5548's Port 47 choked, but WHY would the 5548 Choke???

Hi there :)

i'm setting up two new PowerConnect 6224 for iSCSI network. But i'm not sure if the config is completly perfect. Because our HP ProCurve 2848 give me a better IOPS performance, but without JumboFrames !!!

The switch config on both devices is the same. I've connected the two switches via LAG on port 21-24. But i get the same performance by using one or two switches. Port 1 is configured for management.

Anybody have an idea how to tune up this config? :)

Dell Powerconnect 3548P - Not pinging, or allowing access to web console

Hello,

    I am wondering why we are able to access our PoE switch via the http web console, I can connect via the Serial port and do the Dell Setup Wizard, we set all the information and our ip address for this switch to 10.0.3.192 255.255.255.0 with a default gateway of 10.0.3.1.  

Then if trying to ping it if always times out, and if you connect to it and change the pc ipv4 setting to point to it, it wont allow access to it via browser. 

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.
