I will try and explain this as best that I can. I have several non-dell devices who are reporting back via syslog an error similar to this:
Jul 23 11:11:37 ap01 id=firewall time="2013-07-23 15:09:54" fw=NAME01 pri=1 proto=1(icmp) src=10.20.30.40 dst=224.0.0.1 mid= 1030 mtp= 2 msg=Dropping ICMP packet of type 9 from CORP n/w agent=Firewall
The issue is . . . it is only coming from (src=) our 55xx series switches. None of our other switches; 54xx, 62xx, etc., seem to cause this message. The configurations of our switches are mostly default from factory with the exception of the management setup and a VLAN here and there. Also, the switches have the latest (4.1.0.10) image active.
This is flooding each devices logs, which in turns reports back to a syslog server, thus creating many, many entries. It seems that each switch causes an entry to each device every 5 to 10 seconds.
Any ideas what is different in the 55xx series or what setting I would need to change, would be greatly appreciated.
