Hi,
We've had a fibre line installed at one of our client offices to join a satellite office to the main office. The fibre line runs between two presentation panels and then into a fibre transceiver plugged into a powerconnect switch at each end.
We've been scratching our heads about this since it doesn't seem to work properly. We get connectivity but it's finicky and network access at the satellite office is sketchy at best.
I think the problem is that the switches at either end are two different series - one is a PowerConnect N2048 (main office) and the other is a PowerConnect 5524 (satellite office). Both fibre ports are configured to use default settings (auto-negotiate). the transceivers installed are both Dell-branded 1GBPS modules. Can anyone advise if the issue could be the differing models of switches?
We've got a similar setup at another office using two 2700 series switches and have no problems, this is why I think it might be the differing models of switch.
