Brand New Dell 2808 Router Does not function.

1. The 2808 is not connected to the internet.

2. When received, the 2808 powered up with the DHCP server disabled and port routing enabled. This is the default setting. Not good for normal use, but worked as advertised. The DHCP server is usually needed in a small switch. I needed an enabled DHCP service.

3. I changed to Managed Mode, and logged in. A "restore saved configuration screen" appeared. Horrible thing. Trashed the router. There was no saved configuration, so the 2808 reset itself. The 2808 totally stopped functioning after that.

4. After the 2808 reset, the 2808 seemed to no longer routing packets, so nothing now works except for the web client, which doesn't seem to do anything to the networking.

5 I did enable the DHCP client and set up the IP pool; however, without routed packets, nothing works. Port to port data routing does not work. The DHCP server is not being requested to allocate IP addresses.

6. I paid 80 bucks to a so-called "Dell Customer Service" outfit to fix the problem. They failed. Turns out they did not know how the 2808 worked.

7 I have not figured out how to contact Dell customer service directly for the 2808. Not good. I purchased a T7810 workstation in 2015 with 5-years of Dell service, and I do not know how to contact Dell support for support. I am using the 2808 with the T7810. Both should be covered if customer service could be found.

8. Bottom line I purchased the 2808 on July 27, 2016, and many hours of my effort later, and more hours of a consultant, I am frustrated attempting to get it to work in home mode: a 8-port 1000-baseTpacket router with an enabled DHCP server. I am getting ready to box the 2808 router back to Amazon as it does not work and cannot be made to work.

Any ideas?

Thanks a million in advance.

Keith
