I have a PowerConnect 6248 running 2.1.1.4. I have tried to upgrade the firmware (3.3.7.3) according to the PDF instructions (PC6200 Upgrade Software from version 2.x Procedure.pdf). Everything works as described ...even the "update boot code" works. Once it is finished and reboots ...it goes into operational mode ...loads the correct firmware ....then about 20 seconds later ....it reboots on its own. It will do this forever ...until I reset the switch.
Issue number 2 is regarding the open UDP ports the system shows are open. We have a very tight network security policy ...and 12 times a year we scan the entire network (all devices) for ALL open TCP and UDP Ports. The Dell PowerConnect 6248 shows and the following open UDP ports: 161,514,546,547,8080,17185. Why are all of these UDP ports open by default?????? How can I close these UDP Ports????? This has become a huge issue during IT Exams and Audits. We need to know why they are open ...and what purpose they serve to leave them open.
