Configuring Inter Vlan Routing to Access PowerConnect 2724 Web Management Interface

At moment I have three vlans configured on a Dell PowerConnect 2724 managed switch. I use the three vlans to seperate parts of my home network.

I'm faced with problem when trying to access the web management interface of the Dell PowerConnect 2724. It can be only configured to vlan one and cannot not communicate with the other vlans to provide internet access. So the only way I can configure the settings of the switch through the graphical user web interface is through a dedicated laptop which is only connect via ethernet cable to another port on vlan one.

I've tried to troubleshoot this problem by attempting inter vlan routing. My technical knowledge is a bit limited so I had attempted to connect a ethernet cable from a port on vlan one to a port on vlan eight. This method appeared work. I was able to access the PowerConnet switch's web interface through the web browser of a computer connected to vlan eight but for reason beyond my technical knowledge my internet access from vlan eight was unresponsive. I was not able to access my router or any other websites from my computer until I removed the ethenet cable link between the two vlans.

It appears I’m encountering a broadcast storm when inter-crossing the two vlans. Is there away anyone can recommend to properly route between the two vlans without experiencing this network interruption?

If anyone can assist me in troubleshooting this problem it would be greatly appreciated.

I look forward to hearing your comments.

Thank you
