My question is in regards to 10G base-T Ethernet switches. Any plans for Dell to make a 10G Ethernet switch (copper ports, not sfp fiber) for small business users? Something we can just plug CAT 6e / CAT 7 Ethernet cables into and get the 10G speed on our servers with 10G copper network cards.
Right now only Netgear seems to make them, meaning affordable models for a small business, in 8 and 12 port models but they are VERY loud from what I hear in the reviews, so not the best option for a small office (without a dedicated equipment room) needing the extra throughput of 10G Ethernet.
The only 10G Ethernet, copper cable based switch, that Dell seems to have 24 or more ports and cost many thousand dollars, over least expensive switch is over $7,000 so WAY more firepower than I'm talking about. So, any plans for Dell to make any smaller 10G Ethernet Copper wire switches in the 8, 12, or 16 port capacity for a smaller budget?
The Netgear switches are listed here, the 8 port model can be found for under $900 and the 12 port model for around $1,500. I haven't found any other vendor offer anything close to this price range. http://www.netgear.com/landing/10gigabit/
