I am facing nightmares with my dell 6248 switches. I plan to use them as metro switches to offer dedicated internet access to my customers. I am using firmware 3.8.8.2 for all 5 (five) switches i have. Switches are connected by optic cable @ 10Gb trunk ports.
I've did all possible things to have this dells working as my expectations. I see some possibilities to have shapping working.
1. Egress Shapping directly at customer port
This solution solves part of my problem, since it will affect only downstream for customer. Upstream will not be shaped. Also i've noticed if i do traffic shapping command per port, all other vlans are affected.
This is a buggy solution.
2. Service Policy
I was able to configure CoS to work and downstream to customer is controlled at uplink ports, but upstream from customer has poor performance and seems use a half duplex mechanism.
Can somebody let me know, if i can trust on those Dell switches to manage BW that i sell to customers? I am using this switch as a router , setting routed vlans.
