Questions related to VLans

Hello,

i have to setup one of our Dell Poweredge 7024 switch in front of our network, and i'm not a network specialist ...

But, a friend told me that we can "split" this switch in multiple switches, so we think to split it something like this :

Ports 1 to 4 for our internet line and at least 2 firewall input ports

Ports 5 to 16 for our firewalls output ports and our hosted servers

Ports 17 to 24 for a internal ip range (192.168.0.x/24)

Is it a good solution to split this 3 "ranges" in 3 VLans ?
Will this 3 VLans really be splitted, like if we have 3 physical switches ?

Will this work, if the 1st port is the incoming internet line, split the trafic to our 2 firewalls in cluster and send this trafic to our second ports range ?

And, if we want to be able to manage our switch, witch will receive one of our public IP that should be in the second ports range ?

Don't know if this questions a clear for everyone, my motherlanguage is french ... :/

Thanks for any help on this

Best regards

Jean
