Hello,
Now, Is the first time that I try to configure the CMC. Could you confirm me if is necessary assign IP addres through CLI or the first time is possible access CMC without IP address?
On this way, How I could access to CMC?
Thanks in advance!
Hello,
I have bought 2 new modules FN2210S and I want to create a topology. I haven't still found out the stencil in "VisioCafe" website.
Please, Wheres would be this stencil?
Also I would be need the stencil for PowerEdge FX2 chassis.
Thanks in advance,
Many thanks again for the previous help. However, I'm now trying to set this up in our 'live' network and I've run into a problem with (I think) the default gateway.
Our current network uses the 10.10.0.0 255.255.0.0 network and our current DG is set to our firewall and is 10.10.1.10.
To introduce our N3048 into our network I've setup a VLAN 10 (10.10.5.59 255.255.0.0) which I plan to set as an access port and plug existing uplinks into. I will then create additional VLANs and slowly move downlink switches across onto these other VLANs.
In preparation, I've setup VLAN 8 (192.168.8.0 255.255.248.0) for testing. I've setup a test PC with a fixed IP address (192.168.8.9/21) connected to port 8 setup as access to VLAN 8. Another PC has a fixed IP of 10.10.0.10/16) connected to port 1 setup as access to VLAN 10. Both of these PCs have the VLAN IP set as their default gateway. I can ping each PC from the other.
The N3048 uplinks to a nework switch on port 10 setup as access to VLAN 10.
My problem is that I can't ping devices on our existing network from VLAN 8, even though they are connected. However, I can ping devices on VLAN 10 if I change their default gateway to the IP address of VLAN 10. Is it possible to leave my current devices with their DG set to 10.10.1.10, but still access them from VLAN 8?

Hi
I need two ports (TenGig 0/46-47) to be a lag and enable lacp on them. When I try to enable lacp it says Error port not in default mode.
Steps I have performed
Enable port channel
* interface port-channel 1
* no shutdown
* switchport
* channel-member Tengigabitethernet 0/46
* channel-member Tengigabitethernet 0/47
Now to enable lacp
* interface range Tengigabitethernet 0/46-47
* no shutdown
* port-channel-protocol lacp
% Error: Port is not in default mode Te 0/46
% Error: Port is not in default mode Te 0/47
What did I miss?
Thanks
Paras.
I have a Powerconnect 2824 home network - Frontier Cable provides source with 24 ports, including a QNAP NAS running. Periodically, the network locks up. Doesn't give me an error - just hangs loading pages. Might get better on its own in about 20 minutes but often requires that I turn the entire system including the switch off and then it works when everything comes back on. I'm pretty sure it is not the Cable Router because I can WifI into its router and get internet access. Any ideas? Is it time to replace my PowerConnect Switch? with what? How can I diagnose the problem?
Thanks in advance for your help.
hello
What is the maximum pool number on the S3100 serial switches and the maximum number of addresses that the dhcp server can provide.

Hello
Is it possible to send with the DHCP server using the switch S serie the address of a TFTP server using the options.

I know this is a very specific situation, but I thought maybe someone out there has the same or similar setup. We have Shoretel Phones, plugged into a Dell N3048P switch, which is plugged into a Sophos XG 230 rotuer. I have worked with Shoretel to turn on Option 156 on the router, which allows the phone to be on one VLAN, while the PC that is piggy backing off the phone gets another. I have auto VoIP turned on the port the phone is plugged in to, it is trunked, and only allows VLAN 1 and 20 and has a native VLAN of 20. Both the PC and the phoned end up on VLAN 20. Config is below...

Hello
Are the switch series S compatible with the HP solution for monitoring
IMC : HP Intelligent Management Center (IMC) version 5.
Regards
A question for routing between two switches. We have two IDFs, with a 4064 in each, these two switches are connected via trunk. Each switch has it's own firewall and ISP provider, and the default gateway for each is it's own respective firewall.
Switch A and Switch B both have vlan 12, 14 and 20 named and IP'ed. Switch A has VLAN 30, which is the one going out to the internet, Switch B has VLAN 33, which is it's internet gateway, but also a DMZ.
We need traffic from Switch A to be able to get to VLAN 33 on Switch B. As that VLAN 33 doesn't exist on Switch A, what is the best way to route the traffic to Switch B? Currently, I have a next-hop routing policy, but was wondering if there isn't some other way, maybe a static route table entry?
Thank you in advance
Let me start with, I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing!
I received a previously used\configured PowerConnect 3548p that I'll be setting up in a home test lab. I have my console cable attached, launched PuTTY, fired it up, and get output. It wants a username\password that I just don't have.
I interrupted normal boot to get into the Startup Menu. Erased Flash File, then entered a name. Below is the output on the startup menu I received.
I hoped this would set the password back to a default. I have tried admin:password, admin:<nothing>, root:calvin.
[1] Download Software
[2] Erase Flash File
[3] Password Recovery Procedure
[4] Enter Diagnostic Mode
[5] Set Terminal Baud-Rate
[6] Stack menu
[7] Back
Enter your choice or press 'ESC' to exit:
Warning! About to erase a Flash file.
Are you sure (Y/N) ? y
Write Flash file name (Up to 8 characters, Enter for none.):default
File default (if present) will be erased after system initialization.
Exit from boot menu. Continue with flow.
Hello,

Hi,
so I purchased an used dell PowerConnect 2724. I tought it is working just fine then I did one dum thing nad things got complicated. I set Admin account to a read only mode and it is the only account visible. So now I'm stuck because I can't get it to Unmanaged mode so I could reset it to factory default. I tried this:
- read all user manulas and forums and nothing:)
- pressed MANAGED MODE button for 3sec and it does not reboot to unmanaged mode
- pressed MANAGED MODE button for 90sec nothing
- pressed MANAGED MODE button for 90sec unplug the device holding the button - nothing
- pressed MANAGED MODE button for 90sec unplug the device holding the button for 90sec plug it back in still holding the button - nothing
- opened switch test it with instrument if the button is working and it is

Thank you!
I setup vlan2 on eth01. I have an esxi server attached to eth01 that hosts a vm that multicasts out to other vm's that it's hosting on itself. I'm using an out of the box network configuration on the esxi host. No random interfaces or custom configs in the middle to worry about.
I enabled IGMP snooping, bridge multicast filtering, and enabled auto-learning on vlan 2.
When I multicast, traffic is still going upstream to my subpar router which brings the entire network to it's knees.
Running wireshark on a machine outside of the switch doesn't show broadcast or multicast packets making it to the rest of the network. It just seems like my 10/100 router is being pummeled.
Is there a way to prevent this multicast traffic from traveling upstream and stay on the switch?
Hi All,
I replaced Cisco switch with Dell s4048 switches recently. There are 2 dell s4048 switch with stack configuration and 2 connection from each Equallogic controller to each switch. Switch ports are configured with VLAN (Untag) and 9216 as MTU the only difference between Cisco switch and dell is Cisco have 1 GB ports and dell have 10GB ports.
I believe port throughput suppose to be auto negotiated and work fine but it is not working, when I move LAN cable to Cisco it works fine.
Do we need any special configuration to make connection establish between 1GB Equallogic port and 10 GB Dell S4048 port?
Looking forward if any one had same issue or any further solution. I am contacting Dell support too but still do not get any reply.
Kind regards
Binaya
Hi all,
We would like to implement VLT on our 2 MXL 10/40GbE switches located respectively on A1 and A2 M1000E.
To do that, i will use the 40Gb QSFP+ cables and create a link aggregation between the 2 40Gb interfaces on each switches (see the attachment)
Regarding the configuration i plan to do the following:
A1 switch :
int range fo 1/33-1/37
no shutdown
interface port-channel 127
description “VLT interco”
channel-member fo 1/49
channel-member fo 1/50
no shutdown
vlt domain 1
back-up destination 10.59.250.6
peer-link port-channel 127
primary-priority 1
A2 switch :
int range fo 1/33-1/37
no shutdown
interface port-channel 127
description “VLT interco”
channel-member fo 1/49
channel-member fo 1/50
no shutdown
vlt domain 1
back-up destination 10.59.250.5
peer-link port-channel 127
primary-priority 8192
Regarding the MNGT ip address, is it better to create a dedicated VLAN for the VTL e.g. /30 and so assign on each vlan interface on each switch an ip address rather than the current mgnt ip address?
So i would like to have your feedback to know if this is the good choice and if it'll be working...
FYI:My environment is a production one, normally, there'll be no donwtime during this configuration ?
Many thanks for your comments !
Hello,
I have some doubts, kindly help me to figure it out.
i just want to know how stack switches behave, like once we made them stack the standby switch will not pass any traffic? there are no need for spanning tree? will automatically work on active and passive?
what i have done:-
:-there are QSFP module installed into both the switches. form Switch 1 Port 1 connected to Switch two port two, and switch one port two connected to switch two port one. is it ok? or i should connect parallel.?
now Show Switch command shows second switch is standby, and on the back panel of the master switch led is solid blue and slave switch led is solid amber. I hope i done well.
i have, Dell power Vault MD3820I san Storage with two controller card, each controller have two iscsi ports. and i connected both of them with both the switches.
like:- controller 0/Port0/Switch1/Port2
Controller 0/Port1/Switch2/Port2
Controller 1/Port0/switch1/Port3
Controller 1/port1/switch2/port3
And,
I have Dell Power Edge R720 Server with dual 10G interface, i have installed Red Hat 7.2.
and done the Bonding between two 10G interface, Active backup mode.
10G Port/Switch1/Port4
10G Port/Switch2/Port4
Now, the issue i am facing is:-
whenever i try to create Session from dell utility software to manage SAN storage its says time out and when i remove the bonding from 10G interface and use only single interface it works fine.
I am little confused that the issue because of loop or what, may be because of stack switches or do not know what, kindly help me out from this situation and let me know what should i do ?
I have two different stations with the same equipment. The first station I can copy the startup-config to a USB device with no error. On the second station I always receive the file transferred failed error. Same commands being used on both switches. Both switches are the same. Any ideas on what could be causing the error on the second switch??
