Hi all,
after about 30 Minutes back and forth at the Dell hotline redirecting, I need to verify a simple question about the Switch X1052.
The PDF says it has "8 MB" (sometimes written as "Mb"). Is this 8 Megabyte, or 8 Megabit?
Thank you in advance.
X1052 Question
Dell 62xx stack, master unresponsive
Dear all,
I hope you can help me find a solution to the following issue:
I have a 5 unit stack with DELL 6248 and I am missing the last stack connection from unit 5 back to unit 1.
Unit1 (x)()
Unit2 (x)(x)
Unit3 (x)(x)
Unit4 (x)(x)
Unit5 (x)()
Unit 1 is the master, and It became unresponsive. No GUI, no SSH not even the serial. Its just plain black screen on serial.
Traffic works, snmp works...
I am afraid to plug it out of power, as I don't know which unit is on stand by. Also the "ring" connection for the stack is not completed.
What is my best and worst scenario?
Many thanks and regards,
- ML
iSCSI Settings disappear on N3024 after FW upgrade to 6.2.7.2 A10
Hi there
We have an issue whereby after a firmware update to 6.2.7.2 on our Dell N3024 switches, the iSCSI optimisation settings vanish from the Web UI.
After a downgrade back to 6.2.0.5, the iSCSI optimisation settings return.
Any ideas?
These switches are to be used in an EqualLogic SAN, so it is important that these settings are present. We are also aware that it is possible to enable iSCSI Optimisation from the CLI, however we'd still like a valid reason as to why this behavior occurs.
Not a browser issues either as IE, Firefox and Chrome have all been tested.
Kind Regards
Matt

Enabling STP/Root Bridge on S4048 switches
Hello,
I'm looking for the correct command to enable STP (if not enabled by default) and make a S4048-ON switch the root bridge in an environment.
Thanks.

N2000 ISDP/CDP Problem
I have over 100 N2000 switches in my network, almost all connected to Cisco 4500x switches. As of firmware 6.2.6.6, the N2000s no longer show up in a "sh cdp neigh" on the Cisco switch.
Additionally, running a show cdp traffic on the Cisco switch shows a high number of invalid packets. Again, only switches that have Dell switches on 6.2.6.6 below them. 6.2.0.5 and 6.1.1.7 seem to be fine.
Is this a known issue? Is this fixable without a firmware update?
dell powerconnect 3524p no command line
I have a dell powerconnect 3524p. I have watched it boot in the terminal screen. It goes through it's boot process, showing pass on the checks it makes. When it's done booting, it shows standalone mode, and that's it. There is no command line (>), there is just a green square. I hit enter, or hit any other key and it does nothing.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Empty PowerConnect M8024 High CPU Usage
Hi, we have two M8024 switches in here, and they are showing high cpu utilization (constant 22% with 40% if I enable mst)
Currently only one host is connected to the switch with zero activity, all other ports are shutdown.
Spanning tree disabled, ip redirects disabled, http server disabled, scsi disabled.
Pretty much all features are disabled and yet, here is a output of cpu utilization

Spanning Tree Topology Change Connect resets
we are having some issues with our network being extremely slow. and after running wireshark I see a lot of RST (connect resets) which I believe is bad. I ran the command show log on our DELL 6248 switch stack and I see Spanning Tree Topology changes.

N4032 to 6224 LAG
I'm tryin to connect an N4032 to a 6224 switch via LAG. I've configured all (4) ports for Trunk type using port-channel 2 using the standard LACP settings. Will these switches simply not connect in this fashion? This will be a short term connection as we will be upgrading the 6224 switch stack to support 10GB to the N4032 in 2016. Need a short term fix

PowerConnect 6248 unable to link 10Gb fiber
So I picked up a 6248 used (on a budget) and some finsar 850nm 10Gb SPF+ transievers.
The switch came with 2.x.x firmware and I updated it to the latest 3.3.13.1 firmware in order to get things caught up, apply some patches, ect.
Updates went well and without error.
The problem I'm having is that I'm unable to link between the switch and any of my servers. Everything else seems to work on the switch but the fiber.
I've checked the Web GUI diagnostics and it says on one of the ports, "Loss of signal - No". The only other fiber I have connect at the moment says, "Yes"
So in the process of troubleshooting I just wanted to see if it would link to itself. Sure enough the link/act lights lit and I was seeing activity. But still no link to the servers.
One server is a PowerEdge 2950 and the other a SuperMicro. I don't recall what fiber card the PowerEdge has but it is the server that's giving me the "Loss of signal - No".
My SuperMicro has a SPF adapter card and the same model of SPF+ module as the switch. I even tried rotating them around and still nothing.
I'm pretty much at a loss here. I'm not quite sure what else to do.
I've tried disabling auto negotiate, manually setting speeds, ect. Nothing gets me a link.
Any help would be appreciated.
Connecting 2 M6348 to a N3048P port channel/LAG issues
we have a test blade setup that we want to use separate from our production blade setup. We have some older M6348 switches in the blade and want to create lags between the switches so that there is some redundancy in the connections.
I have the M6348s in simple mode for ease of configuring. I created a lag between the M6348 switches and it seems to be working fine. When I try to create a lag between the M6348 and the N3048P, as soon as I add the ports to the Port channel on the N3028P the other port channel on the N3048P starts to be turned off and on by RSTP. What am I doing wrong?
Connecting 5524 Stack with N2024 Stack
Dell Powerconnect 5524's can be stacked through HDMI and the newer N2024 models can be stacked through dell's proprietary stacking ports. Is there a way to connect these two stacks? Can you connect them through SFP? Can you connect them through a LAG? Whats the best process here?
Can you configure a local and remote SPAN on the same N2000 switch
I want to record VoIP from local ports and a remote vlan from a different N2000 switch to a destination port on the switch with the local ports mirrored on. Is this possible?
When I try to add the remote vlan to the switch that already has a monitor session 1, I get an error:
Failed to configure source remote VLAN.
Source of another type is already configured or destination type is remote VLAN.
Can I create another session? Why can't I add this to the existing? Is there a way to incorporate local and remote ports into one session?

Add TCP Port based routes on S4048-ON
I'm wondering if it is possible to create routes on an S4048-ON switch which direct traffic based on their TCP port? For example, if I was all port 80 traffic to go to 172.16.1.1 and all port 443 traffic to go to 172.16.1.2.
Thanks.
