Hey all.
I have 4 PowerConnect 5224 switches. I'm trying to isolate traffic from a secondary NIC on four hosts. This particular switch only has 5 connections: port 23 goes to another switch, which in turn goes to my router. Then there are the four connections I need to isolate traffic between my 4 hosts. I can log into the switches UI because of port 23, which is my main network (and VLAN 1). It's not trunked currently. The traffic I'm isolating should never be exposed to any other traffic, or have a way to get beyond the VLAN.
What I've tried is creating a new VLAN (23, for the 3d octet of the subnet they all share), and I'm trying to add the hosts to that VLAN as tagged. When I do, I get the alert, "PVID or VLAN port mode conflict." All the ports have PVID = 1. When I try to ping from host to another, I just get destination host unreachable. There is no DG, just the four hosts on a /24 subnet. Usually I let ARP discover the other hosts. Since I've tried this setup, I get <incomplete> for all the hosts. Is there something I have to enable to allow ARP to work within the VLAN?
Am I missing a config item?
Thanks...any input would be appreciated.
