Hi,
We have multiple VLANS on our Dell Powerconnect switches that were created before I arrived. The default VLAN 1 is being used for staff, and a VLAN7 is in existence for our students (educational environment). We have a wireless network of access points; several are on this switch, and the ports were not configured correctly by my predecessor (they should be both VLAN 1 and 7, tagged).
I had no issue reconfiguring our Powerconnect 5548P switches that were not correct, but the 3548P I'm on is giving me issues. I can add the VLAN7 to a port, like so:
"switchport mode general
switchport general allowed vlan add 1,7 tagged"
When I do so on the 3548P, I get the following error:
"VLAN 1: VLAN was not created by user."
VLAN 7 adds tagged; VLAN1 stays (it was already there) and remains untagged. Users can connect to VLAN 1, but cannot connect to VLAN7.
Does anyone know what I'm missing?
